Where do I begin to write a post for a wedding like this one? Although everything was beautiful from beginning to end, it was more than that- it was a sun drenched day full of love, joy, laughter, tears and worship. Ben and Sarah had eyes only for each other and all their friends and family were just so happy for them!
Their wedding was held at the home of the bride, with the ceremony site and reception tent in a grassy field. The June day was incredibly warm and the skies were almost perfectly clear.
We started the day with getting ready photos.. Sarah was surrounded by friends who did an amazing job on her hair and nails! The girls all had matching robes so we slipped out onto the balcony for a few photos with those before the girls all finished getting ready.Every girl should have friends and her mom on her wedding day like Sarah did- to ooh and ahh over her and help her with the finishing touches! Her dress was so perfect and the beaded veil matched perfectly. I fell in love with the bridesmaid’s dresses the moment I saw them- the perfect shade of dusty blue with flutter sleeves and swishy chiffon skirts- they were just a dream to photograph!
The couple decided to share their first look far from all the action beside the quiet creek that ran along the property. Sarah’s dad escorted her down in a golf cart ( those golf carts were a total lifesaver on that hot day!) Ben was so excited to see his bride and the moments they shared were so sweet! I love when we can start off the day with a private, quiet first look.. To give the two a moment to soak in the fact that today is their wedding day!
We took the rest of their portraits around the place, finding little bits of shade wherever we could. Ben and Sarah are so photogenic and so in love and they were so easy to photograph! Their bridal party was a fun one as well and so nice looking in their blues and whites! The girls carried bouquets made by the bride’s mother and her friends.
Before the processional began, Sarah and her bridesmaids spent a few moments praying together as they waited in the reception tent. The daughter of Sarah’s late piano teacher played the piano in memory of her as the sunny meadow filled with guests.
After the bridesmaids and groomsmen had all taken their places at the front, the whole bridal party sang a worship song together. Then the three Glasco sisters sang together as the bride walked down the hill on her father’s arm to meet her groom at the altar.
The ceremony was a beautiful time of praise and worship! Ben and Sarah said their vows to each other beneath a cross built by the groom and the bride’s brother. Their parents joined them for a special prayer and then they shared their first kiss as Mr & Mrs!
A rose-lined pathway led to the reception tent, which was was decorated with more potted roses and other plants, string lights, and greenery and flowers scattered across the tables. The simple white and blue color scheme was perfect for a summer wedding!
Lots of hugs were shared all around as the ceremony ended- I love those moments and some of my favorite photos were from then!
The bridal party did something a little different and they were the ones who served the guests at the buffet line! It was such a perfect illustration of who Ben and Sarah are- serving others, even on their own wedding day. The delicious meal was provided by family and friends, like most everything else.. The whole day was a labor of love and community!
At the open mic, stories were shared of good times and hard times and most of all God’s faithfulness and goodness! There were tears in many eyes throughout the evening.
As the sun went down across the fields, we slipped away with Ben and Sarah for a few golden hour portraits. They took the time away to relax and enjoy each other for a few quiet moments.
Back at the reception tent, some of the bridal party sang and played a few worship songs together. They were all so good at it and it was beautiful! The evening ended with a sky lantern release, the cake cutting and then as the bride and groom made their way to their truck they were pelted with flower petals!
Ben and Sarah, it was such an honor to be trusted with capturing all those moments! It was such a joy to get to know you two and witness your wedding day. Best wishes for a marriage that’s even more beautiful than your wedding!
light + love, Michelle
Ben and Sarah… what an honor to have witnessed God putting your lives together as One!
God has made your relationship to be an example of His holiness! Through your union, many will be “called” and will find that they too have been equiped to walk in this impure world – washed and strengthened to live daily in humility of Spirit – continually growing in His Holiness!
God’s continual anointing and blessing rest upon the newly formed Lapp Family!
