Kelvin & Mariah… Where do I even begin!? I was looking forward to this wedding the whole year and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The day was full of sunshine, family and happiness and so much beauty.
Mariah’s family lives in on an elegant 1888 homestead that they are renovating, so having the wedding there with the reception in the big bank barn was something Mariah had dreamt of for years. With lots of work, that dream came true!
Mariah got ready with her sisters and bridesmaids in a sunlit east room. Her dad came in for a daddy daughter first look and it was such a sweet, emotional moment with the song “My Little Girl” playing in the background. The rest of the family then joined them for tearful hugs before Mariah left for the first look. It was so precious and I am glad I got to witness it with my camera! It’s so important to be intentional about moments on a wedding day..it goes so fast!
They decided on Middle Creek Wildlife Center for their portraits, a place they spent many hours together when they were dating. It was the most beautiful sunny day, despite the heat and humidity! They are so natural together and so easy to photograph. And can we talk about those florals!? Buds & Blooms Co knocked it out of the park with these incredible bouquets.
Then the bridal party showed up and they were all so classy! I felt like I was shooting a wedding out of a bridal magazine! And they were such a fun and crazy bunch 🙂
Four generations! This is a photo that is very special to get to take.
The ceremony was held in the backyard. They set up a tent because the forecast called for thunderstorms right over the ceremony time. But praise the Lord, it held off and there wasn’t even a shower! The ceremony decor was so elegant with pampas grasses lining the aisle and an amazing floral installation at the altar.
The family and ministry gathered in the house for a time of prayer before the ceremony began.
We slipped around a corner of the house for a few newlywed portraits in between the ceremony and reception!
So there was this fruit display for the appetizer table.. I could write paragraphs describing this spectacular reception but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves! A friend of the bride made the cookies for the favors and some of the dried greenery on the tables came from bouquets Kelvin had given Mariah. I love sentimental details like that!
The dessert bar was incredible! I was so busy shooting, however, that I forgot to taste any!
The plan was for a sky lantern send off, but due to the humidity they didn’t lift off. At least it made for a few pretty glowy photos!
Kelvin and Mariah, your day was so beautiful and joyful and I’m so happy for you! Thank you so much for allowing us the honor of being your photographers!
