There’s this concept in business about finding your ideal client- imagining what kind of people they are, what their style is, and so on, then marketing as if you were talking just to that sort of person. I never really thought about applying that to my own business, because truth be told, I love serving a variety of clients. But as I sifted through thousands of images from Nate and Amisha’s wedding, I realized- this couple and this wedding were just that!
We first met them on a windy cold day back in March at the Harrisburg riverfront for their engagement session. They are the kind of people that you don’t feel nervous or awkward around very long, and we even went out for supper with them afterward! Then Covid began to tighten it’s grip… I talked to all my spring brides about their plans and Amisha was so optimistic about everything working out! I was hopeful too… but the closer May came, the more we realized things weren’t going to be open in time, and they made the tough decision to push it off a month. I had every Saturday booked in June, so they chose to have it on a Friday so I could be there!
June 26th finally arrived. Nate and Amisha were so happy to finally be getting married, after many months of waiting! Amisha was one of the most elegant and beautiful brides I’ve ever photographed and both of their smiles were as genuine as could be. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect – warm and sunny with puffy white clouds in the sky. We quickly found out their bridal party was just as much fun as they were! Even though the afternoon was warm and bright, the venue gave us some beautiful locations for photos. The bridesmaid’s mint dresses were so summery and the peony bouquets not only looked gorgeous but smelled amazing as well!
The wedding and reception were held at Creekside Meadows, a pretty venue set up for outdoor events. By early evening, as guests started to arrive, the clouds got thicker and gave some relief from the heat. Amisha had so many pretty details and the outdoor ceremony was just beautiful. The reception was held under a dreamy white tent strung with glowing string lights. They were surrounded with joy and laughter throughout that whole golden evening. It was the kind of reception that I love to shoot, where we feel like a part of the day and not ‘just the photographer’! We stepped out into the field just at sunset for a few more photos and I’m so glad we did… nothing beats that light!
As the night came to an end, guest formed two lines outside for a sparkler farewell. They jumped in the cutest old getaway car… and it wouldn’t start! After a bit of pushing and coaxing by family and friends, it rattled to life and they drove off into their happily ever after.
