One day in August, I got a call from a former bride ( so I thought.) I missed it, so I called the number back. The guy who answered wasn’t the one who called, but he said he thinks it was his sister Hannah because she got engaged two days ago! I was over- the-moon excited and so honored. In April of 2019, we had photographed Hannah’s sister Corina’s wedding, and loved it so much! They and their families were so incredibly sweet and the wedding had been so full of love and emotion and I knew the second sister’s wedding would be just the same. When Hannah told me their date, I was really disappointed because I was already booked for that day! But after some figuring, we realized it would work out perfectly if they chose a Friday for their date since we were shooting a wedding in Michigan the very next day, and we could do it all in the same trip!
We didn’t get to do an engagement session like we usually do since Nate and Hannah live in Indiana and we had just moved to Pennsylvania. But they did not feel like strangers when we met them on their wedding day!It was so much fun to meet all the same people again that had been at Caleb and Corina’s wedding, and they welcomed us into the celebration as if we were family!
Nate and Hannah are definitely fit into the quiet, sweet and romantic category! Watching them interact on their wedding day was such a joy. The way Nate tenderly cared for his bride and the glances they would share throughout the day showed that they were very much in love and delighted to be pledging their lives to each other.
We were blessed with the most perfect day October could offer- blue skies and warm but clear air. They had their wedding in a big old barn on the grounds of the Swiss Heritage Village in Berne, Indiana. The day started out with getting ready at the venue- check out those detail shots, aren’t her dress and shoes just dreamy??- family formals, and bridal party portraits. The bridal party was made up of siblings of the bride and groom. We took those pictures around the other old buildings of the cute little village.
The ceremony and reception were held in on place. The guests sat at tables during the ceremony and then there was no need to have another location for the reception. The white tablecloths, daisies and candles all beautifully complemented the rustic centennial barn and I loved it! It was all very relaxed and lowkey, and yet so pretty and elegant at the same time.
Hannah was walked down the aisle by her father and her mother, and Nate teared up a bit as he watched his beautiful bride coming toward him. Both of their fathers spoke for the devotional and message, and then her father married them. Music was provided by four brothers. The meal was a delicious Chipotle style bar, cupcakes, and ice cream. It was perfect for a mid afternoon lunch/dinner.
After the reception was over, we went to another historic spot for the portraits. The sun was golden across the beautiful fields and it was lovely!
