Drew and Darlene’s day was so full of love and joy and beauty!
We first met Drew and Darlene when they were in a bridal party of another wedding we were photographing. They were another couple who met/ served at Mountain View Nursing Home – that makes 4 we’ve done!-so I knew it was going to be a fun one! Weddings of staff from there are always so enjoyable. All the coworkers reconnecting and having a good time lends itself to a fun atmosphere! And they always have the most beautiful singing.
We all had been nervously watching the forecast in the week before their wedding day. It was on and off predicting rain, so we were so happy when Saturday morning came and the sun was shining! A few clouds came on later then, but it didn’t even sprinkle until after we had all the photos wrapped up.
Drew and Darlene chose to take their portraits on a perfectly landscaped property in East Earl PA. Darlene chose soft and refined colors and florals for their wedding and it couldn’t have fit her better! She wore a beautiful dress with just a touch of lace and carried a springy bouquet made by Flourish Flowers. The bridesmaid’s champagne dresses added to the elegant feel of the day.
When we all got to Martindale Reception Center where the wedding and reception were held, guests were starting to arrive. The place quickly filled with hugs and laughter as friends reconnected.
A group of the couple’s friends provided music as the bridal party entered the sanctuary. During the ceremony, the pastor assembled a wooden plaque ( made by a friend of the groom) and secured it, a beautiful illustration of two becoming an inseparable one.
And then the reception! Towering vases of bridal veil and dogwoods graced the head table and the effect was just lovely. Rows of tables were decorated with scores of dainty bouquets in an assortment of vases, arranged by the bride’s aunts and cousins. And of course candles- the best way to add life to a reception venue!
The reception meal was a delicious change of pace with a Mediterranean inspired meal, complete with naan and hummus- ok now I really wish I had some of that right now! 🙂
The reception ended with stories and jokes by friends and family at open mic, and after lots of goodbye hugs the newlyweds were off!

We met them at a park for a few more photos as Mr and Mrs, and again the rain held off and they were even blessed with a little more sunshine.
Drew & Darlene, your joy was a beautiful thing and it was a blessing to be part of your day!
light + love, Michelle
