Lance and Jolene have a bit of a unique story to the beginning of their relationship. They knew of each other’s existence but had never talked or anything. Then one day both of them ended up in the local mall at the same time. Neither of them had planned to go, but Jolene had some friends who wanted her to come with them and Lance was just killing some time. There’s a piano in the food court at the mall, and Jolene sat down to play for a little. That’s when Lance decided to go chat with her.. And one thing led to another and then one day in June was their wedding day!
The day began with Jolene getting ready with two of her bridesmaids with her. Her parents prayed with her before she walked out to meet Lance for their first look. During that time, they read their vows they had written to each other in books Jolene had hand made.
The park where we took their portraits was only a few minutes away. It is an old abandoned quarry that turned into small lakes and has the prettiest willow trees around it. I just love it whenever I get a chance to shoot with willows- they’re so airy and elegant.
The bridal party joined us a little later for their photos. They were such a fun bunch! The girls wore soft rose dresses and carried some of the prettiest bouquets I’ve ever photographed- stunning, perfect pink peonies, white roses and mauve stock coordinated so beautifully with Jolene’s colors. I could have photographed them all day!
The ceremony was held at the bride’s home church. After the ceremony there were a few emotional moments… That just married feeling can be overwhelming sometimes!
The reception was decorated in white and gold and mauve and it was so bright and beautiful! There were so many lovely details. The favors were the cutest little honey jars with a little bee on each one.
The wedding meal was definitely one of a kind! The couple both love Asian food so they had it catered by a Chinese restaurant. I happen to love that kind of cuisine as well so I absolutely loved it, and it sounded like the guests did as well! Dessert was a beautiful arrangement of cupcakes, Lapp Valley ice cream ( highly recommend!) an array of delicious macarons, and an iced coffee bar.
The whole day was just so beautiful and so much fun to photograph. Lance and Jolene, may God bless your marriage!
