Lukas and Karen were married on the most perfect day that the end of July could offer! The week before their wedding was hot and humid- and two days before, there was even a tornado nearby! But the storms blew away leaving clear, comfortable temperatures and beautiful sunshine.
We met these two back at their engagement session this spring. I feel like I say this often, but they are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet! ( How do I end up with so many amazing couples?) Karen has the sweetest, most caring personality and they both are so Christ and others-focused. I know they’ll do great things for God’s kingdom together!
The day began with getting ready at Karen’s home with her friends and bridesmaids surrounding her. Lukas and Karen chose to spend some time together at their new home instead of doing first look photos, so we followed them there and took a few photos in the beautiful white spaces they are renovating.
The park where the portraits happened was a pretty little place with a creek meandering through it. Lucas and Karen were so comfortable together and I had so much fun photographing them!
Their bridal party joined us a little later and what a classy looking group they were:)
At the ceremony, Karen walked down the aisle on her father’s arm to a beautiful song, My Very Own, sung by friends of the couple. I never heard that one before but it is such a perfect processional song! Lucas and Karen read personal vows to each other and then Karen’s father performed the ceremony.
The reception was held outside the church in a white tent.( My favorite kind of place to have receptions 🙂 I especially loved the floral hoops hanging above the bridal table! The decor continued the theme of neutrals and forest green, with small vases holding greenery and photos from their dating years on the tables. The couple both love bubble tea and so they had some brought from a local tea shop for everyone at the bridal table! The meal was delicious even if we didn’t get any of that 🙂
Lukas’s father had passed away a few years ago, and his absence was keenly felt by the family. A few tears were shed during speeches as they remembered him.
After the reception was over, we went back to the park with them for a few newlywed portraits in the late afternoon glow. Those are my favorite photos to shoot, as the couple basks in the joy of finally being husband and wife!
Lukas and Karen, we loved getting to know you! May God bless your marriage!
light +love, Michelle
